Innovation Lab @ Westchester Day School
Innovation has a new home at Westchester Day School! This fall, students began learning in our state-of-the-art Innovation Lab, dedicated in memory of Mark Wender, z”l, and made possible through the generosity of Rebecca and Josh Chubak and family, together with The Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE).
Located in Wolfson Hall, the Innovation Lab features a Glowforge laser cutter, five 3D printers, and a dedicated robotics corner with a full competition table. Each week, students from kindergarten through eighth grade dive into engineering and computer science—designing bridges and testing their strength, creating personal websites, exploring CAD modeling, and bringing ideas to life through 3D printing.
This beautiful new space was built to spark curiosity and creativity while helping students develop the practical problem-solving skills they’ll carry into the future. By thinking like engineers—questioning, testing, learning from mistakes, and refining their designs—our students are learning that every challenge is a chance to grow.
More than mastering technology, they’re building confidence, collaboration, and perseverance—the key traits of innovators and leaders.
We are deeply grateful to Rebecca and Josh Chubak, proud parents of Olivia (5th), Jacob (3rd), and Henry (Kindergarten), whose vision and generosity have helped transform our school and our students’ learning.
With your partnership, we can build on the Chubak family’s vision and ensure that every WDS student continues to explore, create, and innovate in the spirit of curiosity, discovery, and Jewish learning.
