4th Grade Travels to Colonial America

Academic Monday, 01 Jun 2026

The fourth grade spent May immersed in American colonial life. First, they traveled to 1750 with a visit to Philipsburg Manor, threshing wheat, turning grindstones, and churning butter.

Then, it was on to the Colonial Wax Museum. Using skills developed throughout the year, students brought colonial trades to life as a milliner, paper maker, silversmith, and others awoke out of wax forms to present their crafts to guests.

The month's experiences closed with Colonial Day. Donning hats and bonnets, students dipped candles, crafted corn husk dolls, and played colonial games.
