Fifth Grade Reenacts Jamestown

For fifth graders studying colonial America, active learning this month meant reenacting the Jamestown settlement. Fifth graders adopted roles of ship captains, settlers, King James I, Chief Powhatan, and Powhatan tribe members to reenact Jamestown.
Skits addressed why the Jamestown site was chosen and why relations between the Native Americans and Englishmen soured. Our actors were particularly enthusiastic to dramatize the Jamestown's calamities, namely disease and starvation.
Kol haKavod to our actors on their performances!
