WDS Celebrates Sukkot
Campus was absolutely buzzing as WDS enjoyed Sukkot!
Mrs. Goldstein’s art room hosted artists from Kindergarten through fourth grade as they created beautiful beaded Sukkah decorations. Fifth graders took the lead on this project after learning about American glass artist Dale Chihuly, using a combination of plastic plates, colorful sharpies, and a heat gun to create one-of-a-kind “blown glass” mobile decorations.
Throughout the week, our teachers kept education at the forefront while encouraging exploration and celebration. Students created and played Sukkot-themed games, Mr. Shmuely brought his music class to the Sukkah, and our youngest learners got to explore an etrog and lulav with Rabbi Klinger. Entertainer Digital Dov Katz also made an appearance, testing students’ knowledge of all things Sukkot with a fun game show. WDS Alumni joined us this week to share their high school experiences
Students even took the fun off campus, starting with a middle school trip to the Playland Ice Rink. Students in third grade through eighth grade participated in a “Sukkah Hop,” walking off campus to meet Rabbi Silberstein in his Sukkah for special programming. Kindergarteners enjoyed their own field trip to Dr. Davies farm, making it their mission to pick the best apples they could find.
As we reflect on all of the wonderful memories made, we want to thank all of our teachers, directors, kitchen and facilities teams, and community members for making Sukkot at WDS so magical!
