WDS Students Take Brachot Learning to the Next Level
This winter, WDS’s third through fifth graders have been immersed in learning brachot for various foods, smells, experiences, and mitzvot.
WDS began with a new Bracha B'kol initiative in partnership with SAR and Ramaz. This initiative, designed to foster brachot becoming a natural part of students’ daily routines and heighten their sense of gratitude towards Hashem, challenged students to say ten brachot daily outside of school, with prizes each week generously sponsored by local vendors.
This initiative kickstarted preparations for the next challenge, our annual Bracha Bee! Cheered on by classmates, our Bracha Bee competitors displayed impressive knowledge of the brachot for a wide variety of foods, including escarole, gherkins, fruit soup, and kibbeh.
Our winners went on to compete in the 4th Annual Tri-State Bracha Bowl hosted by SAR. With Director of Judaic Studies Rabbi Klinger at the helm, our Bracha Bowl team went head-to-head against 14 local yeshivot through multiple rounds, surviving all the way to the finals, nearly winning the competition, and most importantly, showcasing both a wealth of knowledge and admirable sportsmanship.
Kol hakavod to all the competitors!
