Eighth Grade Films Names Not Numbers®

Academic Wednesday, 07 Jan 2026

WDS is honored to participate in the Names, Not Numbers® Holocaust video testimony program with our eighth grade. This tremendous program gives our students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning about this essential part of Jewish history through direct interviews with survivors, ensuring their stories endure for future generations.

This month, our eighth graders were privileged to meet with five survivors, including one survivor who had never before shared her story and another who stopped into our Ganon to visit with his great-grandson before sitting for his interview. Students conducted their interviews with great sensitivity and kavod, dedicating significant time to understanding, telling, and preserving each survivor’s unique experience.

This was a transformative experience for our graduating class, and they still have much to study about this moment in history throughout 2026. By the time our eighth graders premiere their documentary in May, they will have a comprehensive understanding of this time period, modern-day anti-Semitism, and why we must never forget.
