GrowTorah Returns with Big Upgrades!

Academic Tuesday, 11 Nov 2025

Stewardship of the land is an important tenet of Judaism, and for the fifth year in a row, our preK-4th grade students have the joy of digging into both soil and Torah values with GrowTorah.

Like WDS, GrowTorah believes that engaged, hands-on experiences are key to learning. Led by GrowTorah’s Farmer Shimon, students are exploring our beautiful garden, harvesting produce, and rooting themselves in Torah lessons.

This year, our garden has been completely revitalized thanks to the vision and generosity of the Lerner family and dear friends in commemoration of the 10th yartzeit of Ari Lerner, z"l (parent of Helen '29, Elizabeth '24, and Andrew '21). In Ari's memory, the garden now boasts all new beds, additional plantings, weed barriers, composting, and even a drip irrigation system — ensuring that his legacy of growth and nourishment will live on through the learning of our children.

We look forward to celebrating the dedication of the Ari Lerner z"l Garden with our community soon.
