Middle School Speaker Series Kicks Off with WDS Alumna, Sofia Haft

Our Middle School has officially kicked off its Middle School Speaker Series, a program designed to help students broaden their horizons and imagine exciting possibilities for their futures. Throughout the year, fifth through eighth graders meet professionals from a wide range of fields, each sharing stories of their journeys, careers, and values.

For our first speaker, we were thrilled to welcome Sofia Haft, proud WDS alumna! Sofia brought energy, insight, and inspiration as she shared highlights from her career as a Public Affairs Officer in the U.S. Navy, leader at SnapChat, and now Director of Strategic Partnerships at American defense technology company, Anduril Industries.

In conversation with WDS parent and board member Caroline Bryk, Sofia reflected on her career, her Jewish and civic identity, her experience as a collegiate athlete, and, of course, her favorite WDS memories. Students explored how civic engagement is rooted in Jewish values.

Sofia was joined by her best friend from her own WDS days, a wonderful reminder of the lifelong connections and enduring impact of a WDS education.
