Sparking Curiosity in WDS's New STEM Lab
Innovation has a new home at WDS. This fall, students began learning in our state-of-the-art STEM Lab, dedicated in memory of Mark Wender, z”l, and made possible through the generosity of Rebecca and Josh Chubak and family, together with The Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE).
Located in Wolfson Hall, the lab is outfitted with a Glowforge laser cutter, five 3D printers, and a dedicated robotics corner. Each week, our kindergarteners through eighth graders explore engineering and computer science principles, from building bridges and testing their strength to designing personal websites and moving into CAD modeling and 3D printing.
This beautiful new space is designed to spark curiosity and creativity. By learning to think as engineers — questioning, testing, learning from mistakes, and refining — our students are reinforcing that every challenge is a growth opportunity.
More than mastering technology, students are building confidence, collaboration, and perseverance, key skills of innovators and leaders.
