WDS Welcomes Middle States Delegation in Re-Accreditation Year
WDS is accredited by the Middle States Association–Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools. We have maintained this voluntary accreditation since 1995 to reflect our commitment to excellence.
Middle States accreditation follows a seven-year cycle, and this is WDS's re-accreditation year. Re-accreditation is a months-long process, beginning with a comprehensive self-study to analyze our programs and plan intentionally for the future.
We look closely at all aspects of WDS life — governance, resources, mission, teaching and learning, and student well-being. The study has two goals: to identify our strengths and to define plans for continuing to improve student performance and “organizational capacity” over the next accreditation cycle.
As we look ahead, our actionable student performance plans for the next cycle focus on continually enhancing our English and Hebrew reading programs, including decoding and fluency. WDS does very well in these areas, but we want to do even better. For organizational capacity, our plans aim to increase curriculum alignment across divisions and professional development opportunities for faculty.
This week, we were thrilled to welcome a Middle States delegation to WDS. The visiting team evaluated and agreed that our practices align with our mission and values. It was a delight to have them recognize what a rigorous, nurturing school we are!
Thank you to Principal Lauren Goldman-Brown and Morah Jill Ellman for spearheading this endeavor.
