WDS Welcomes Over 350 Grandparents and Special Guests
WDS was thrilled to welcome over 350 grandparents and special friends on the first day of spring for our cherished tradition of Grandparents & Special Friends Day. With Pesach around the corner, this special day embodied the value of transmitting our heritage from generation to generation.
Guests traveled from near and far to experience the warmth, ruach, and vibrant learning that define WDS. With heartfelt tefillah, a student-led moving Hatikvah, and classroom activities ranging from building electrical circuits to Hebrew family trees and interviews about Pesach memories from years past, the day showcased the depth and breadth of the WDS education. Even more than that, however, the day was defined by meaningful moments shared with grandchildren and the pride that comes from knowing that future generations are developing a strong sense of Jewish identity, while building the knowledge and values that will guide them throughout their lives.
The day concluded as every Friday does at WDS–by preparing for Shabbat. Rabbi Ney welcomed visitors to the Middle School’s ReLiSh (Ruach Lifnei Shabbat) lunch program, where uplifting songs helped carry the day's energy into Shabbat. Grandparents and special friends left overflowing with nachas for the education students receive at WDS. It was a day of smiles, stories, and connection—M’dor L’dor at its finest.
