Rise & Shine Match
Together, We Can Help Jewish Education Thrive
Westchester Day School has been selected to participate in the Rise & Shine Match, a special initiative designed to encourage increased support for Jewish day schools. It gives our community an opportunity to make an already meaningful commitment to WDS go even further.
At WDS, children build a strong foundation in Torah and Jewish values while growing as curious, confident learners. They develop their understanding of Jewish life, deepen their connection to Israel, and discover how to bring their values into the world around them. This education shapes not only the students they are today, but the Jewish adults and community members they will become.
The Rise & Shine Match gives us an opportunity to invest in that future together.
A Significant Opportunity for WDS
Through this initiative, WDS has the opportunity to receive a grant of $250,000 from a prominent national foundation by reaching its goal of qualifying gifts.
Our qualifying-gift goal: $375,000
The foundation matching grant of $250,000 is unlocked when we reach our goal.
Community progress: We are already 45% of the way there!
Reaching this goal will take the participation of our community - families, grandparents, alumni, and friends who believe in the importance of a strong Jewish education. Every qualifying gift brings WDS closer to unlocking this additional support.
How Can Your Gift Qualify?
There are two pathways for qualifying gifts, depending on your giving history with WDS.
For new donors
If you have not made a gift to WDS in the past three years, a gift of $5,000 or more may qualify for the match. A limited portion of gifts from new donors may qualify at a lower amount, subject to the program's requirements. Please contact the Development Office to learn whether your gift would qualify.
For existing donors
If you have supported WDS in the past three years, your gift may qualify if your total giving for a single year reaches at least three times your highest total annual gift to WDS in any one of the past three years. The qualifying gift must also be at least $540.
Because the requirements are specific, we encourage you to speak with the Development Office before making a commitment. We can help you understand your giving history and determine what may qualify.
Your Support Makes a Difference
A WDS education is about more than what happens in the classroom. It is about helping children develop a love of learning, a strong Jewish identity, a commitment to Torah and middot, and a sense of responsibility to the broader Jewish community.
Philanthropy helps WDS attract and retain outstanding teachers, enrich academic and Judaic studies, provide meaningful learning experiences, and make a WDS education accessible to more families.
The Rise & Shine Match offers an additional reason to come together now. By helping WDS meet its qualifying-gift goal, you can help bring additional resources to a school that is investing in the next generation.
Let’s Talk About How You Can Participate
You can support WDS through a gift directed to one or more of the school's giving priorities. Gifts may be made by credit card, check, donor-advised fund (DAF), transfer of appreciated securities, or a charitable distribution directly from an IRA, and payments may be arranged within the program's guidelines.
Not sure whether your gift qualifies, or know a family or foundation that might be interested in supporting WDS? We would welcome the conversation.
