Lunch Program

Westchester Day School is a kosher facility with certified supervision on the premises. No food may be brought from home.
 
Nut Awareness Policy:
It is the policy of Westchester Day School to make the safety of our students our top priority. Food allergies are a growing concern in schools across America, and therefore Westchester Day School is a nut-free environment ensuring the well-being of our students.
 
Food Services:
Our in house catering is the exclusive foodservice provider for WDS and provides students with a nutritious, well balanced lunch. Menus are developed specifically for WDS and are modified every month to reflect seasonal availability, holidays and special events. We provide lunch Monday-Friday and two snacks daily. Lunch is served cafeteria style in the lunchroom. Snacks are served in the classrooms.
 
Daily Lunch Menu:
Every day the lunch menu includes: soup, salad, entrée, starch, vegetables, dessert and a beverage- water or milk (on dairy days).  A meat lunch is served on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
 
Daily Lunch Alternatives:
Our salad bar includes a variety of vegetables, dressings, hard boiled eggs, and flaked tuna.
Our sandwich bar includes breads, bagels, soy nut butter, and jelly.
Our fruit bar includes a variety of whole fresh fruits.
 
Daily Snacks:
Students are given a daily morning and afternoon snack in the classroom. Snacks consist of a beverage and a healthy food (fruit, crackers, yogurt).
 
Nutritional Information:
A minimal amount of fat is used in the sautéed, grilled and roasted food; canola or olive oil is used exclusively. Meats are graded choice or its equivalent; hamburgers are made from 80% lean ground beef. Vegetables are served fresh when available; canned vegetables are not served.
Tuna is solid white and packed in water. Skim milk is used in place of cream in soups and sauces. Eggs, tuna and other salads are prepared fresh. Breads, bagels and rolls are baked fresh daily.

Who We Are

Westchester Day School is a Modern Orthodox, co-educational, dual-curriculum, toddler to 8th grade Jewish school that inspires and educates our students in their own way to value menschlichkeit, mitzvot, and lifelong learning.
