Transportation at WSD

Westchester Summer Day provides safe, convenient transportation on air-conditioned school buses and vans. We partner with experienced private transportation companies whose drivers are licensed school bus drivers and meet New York State Department of Motor Vehicles requirements.

Each bus has a WSD bus counselor who welcomes campers, helps ensure everyone is safely seat-belted, and makes the ride to and from camp enjoyable. Upon arrival, WSD staff escort campers from their buses to their groups. At dismissal, staff ensure campers are safely escorted back to the correct bus.

Bus Service Areas

Bus transportation is available from New York City, Riverdale, and communities across Lower Westchester County.

New York City: Bus stops are available at designated avenue locations above 60th Street.

Westchester: Bus service is currently available from Bronxville, Eastchester, Hartsdale, Harrison, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Pelham, Pelham Manor, Port Chester, Purchase, Rye, Rye Brook, Scarsdale, Tuckahoe, White Plains, and Yonkers.

We are happy to explore transportation options from additional areas when there is sufficient interest.

Families who would like transportation should indicate their busing needs on the camper registration form. If you're unsure about transportation when registering, busing can be added by contacting the WSD office by April 1.

Parent Drop-Off & Pickup

Families are also welcome to drive their children to and from camp. In the morning, WSD staff will greet your child and escort them from your car to their group's meeting area.

At dismissal, parents may remain in their vehicles in the pickup line while WSD staff bring their child directly to their vehicle.

Getting to WSD

Located in Mamaroneck, WSD is close to major highways and easily accessible to the communities we serve. Our campers join us from across Westchester, Riverdale, Connecticut, and Manhattan.
